A Wild Combination

A Few Opening Remarks

- Irish coffee has become my new favorite drink. Besides being a great tasting beverage, it's also a great way to give those boring white t-shirts a hip, I-just-spilled-a-hot-beverage-on-myself-why-oh-why-the-fuck- did-I-get-out-of-bed-this-morning look!

- GreenpointUSA has its own webpage! And on it there is a link to something called a "pet dick" (yes, it is exactly what you are imagining it to be) and (man oh man it just keeps getting better) you can buy yourself one for a mere $13.69 + $5 S&H. This work of fine art is handmade in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, or as the locals prefer to call it, "the art capital of the world." Please, foax, act quickly coz supplies will not last!

- Serpico reminded me how good Al Pacino used to be. And, whatinthehell, the real Frank Serpico has a blog?

- Praise Allah! X-mas is over. Phew!

PS - if you're around Greenpoint tomorrow night, you may want to head over to Studio B on Banker Street to dig some decadent disco from the boys of DFA, Tim Sweeney, and a couple others. I went last time they all spun there, and so long as you can stand paying $9 a drink and being packed in with a bunch of Polish club kids, it's a guaranteed good time.

Raving In The Third Reich's Phases

----/----

It's been a while since we last spoke. I guess I've been busy--I feel exhausted. Also, a large book arrived in the mail a couple weeks ago, and that has been taking up most of my spare time.

If you have not listened to Optimo's Essential Mix, which the ill-ec-tro-nic linked to a few weeks ago, and apparently brought Pitchfork's servers down sometime yesterday, then you must do that quickly as it is essential (duh!).

----/----

Here are a few songs culled from Optimo's mix mentioned above that I've got a thing for.

Bumblebee Unlimited - Lady Bug (Larry Levan Mix)

Everyone loves this song. How could you not? It must on at least four or five DJ mixes that I've heard in the past few months. It seems to pop up everywhere and for good reason, too. (Apologies for the low bitrate. It's nearly impossible to find a copy of this song not ripped from a DJ mix.)

Hansepferd - BismarckE

I have no idea who Hansepferd is/are or what the hell is going on in this song...Where's the bunker? Nazi raves? WTF? It's silly, really, and I can't explain it, but I kinda like it.

----/----

I've never really been one for making lists, but I hope to have some sort of year end compendium up within the next few weeks. I have a good idea of what will be on it, but there are still a few more weeks left, and I would have to short-change anyone that releases something before the year is over.

I might post some more songs later on today...but we'll see.
